The Nebraska Chapter had its first Omaha meeting of 2007! I want to give a special thanks to those of you that have joined us in the past and keep coming back. I hope to see everyone again at future meetings.

Kacey Crouch, Adobe Certified Expert and Instructor, joined us for a repeat of the Lincoln meeting. This group discussed printing to PDF from authoring programs. There were many questions that Kacey was able to answer for the group.

Kacey Crouch, Adobe Certified Expert and Instructor, showed the group some great tips when getting PDFs ready to print. Kacey discussed ways to set up the document for print - from options that can be controlled in the original format to options in Acrobat.

Last month the Lincoln group had a meeting and missed out on the new features in Acrobat 8 so we held another meeting to discuss the new features. It was also a chance for members of the Omaha group to attend if they missed last month’s Omaha meeting.

Angie Okamoto, from Tech Ed Solutions, joined us to talk about Acrobat 7 features and the new things to come in Acrobat 8. Angie answered many questions from the group and was able to share some sample PDFs. The topics for the night covered a wide range of features in Adobe Acrobat.

After Angie’s presentation we gave away some great prizes including a version of Acrobat 8 Professional!

The second Omaha meeting was another success! We had many members from last month’s meeting, including a few new members. We even had some of our Lincoln group join us for this meeting.

September’s meeting was the third one held in Lincoln. This meeting we opened the discussion to members and their PDF creations. We had members share some PDFs and forms that they have been working on. It opened a discussion on things to think about when creating PDF forms as well as some issues that members have encountered during the process. Some members shared successful PDFs and some shared PDFs that needed some extra help and answers.

Throughout the evening we were able to discuss a number of different topics within Acrobat as well as a number of different types of PDFs.

It was a smaller group than usual but the discussion carried on during the meeting and hopefully some new knowledge was gained.

We ended the meeting with a few giveaways and discussion of upcoming events for the Nebraska Chapter.

This was our first meeting was in Omaha. There was a variety of Omaha area businesses and we even had a few from Lincoln that missed our first meeting. The meeting started with pizza and introductions.

Once the introductions were finished Lori DeFurio, from Adobe Systems, gave her presentation on the history of Adobe and an overview of the Acrobat Family. A few of the attendees came with specific questions about Adobe Acrobat and PDFs. Lori was able to answer those questions throughout the presentation. She also shared a number of great tips and tricks when working in Acrobat.

After Lori’s presentation we made a few announcements about the upcoming plans with the Nebraska Chapter. Before the end of the night we had a drawing and gave away some great prizes.

The Nebraska Adobe Acrobat User Group meeting was another success! We had many familiar faces and a number of new ones for our second meeting. We started the night off with dinner and a few announcements.

Our presentation on ‘How to make a PDF into an Interactive Form!’ demonstrated the different options available when adding fields to a form. We also discussed some tips and tricks to work more efficiently in Adobe Acrobat. The discussion led into Adobe Designer and creating forms in Designer.

Many attendees had experience creating forms which opened the discussion to issues when building forms and discoveries that members have made.

A good deal of discussion took place throughout the evening. We ended the night with thoughts and ideas for future meetings.

Our first meeting was Thursday April 13th. We had a good turn out with a variety of companies and users from the Lincoln and Omaha area.

We started the meeting off with dinner and introductions. Everyone had a chance to introduce themselves and share their experiences with Adobe Acrobat and PDFs.

Lori DeFurio from Adobe Systems was present to get our chapter off to a great start. Lori shared the history of Adobe Systems and discussed what to expect from Adobe in the near future. Her main topic was the Adobe Acrobat Family. She showed us the different features and tools between all of the Adobe Acrobat products.

After Lori’s informative presentation we opened the floor up to discussion on upcoming topics and future meeting times and dates. We decided to meet once every two months in the evenings.

We have received great feedback from the attendees and everyone is eagerly awaiting details on our next meeting!
